[View points near Hirakata-koen supposed less people along Keihan -Railway]
Iwashimizu-Hachiman shrine located on the Yahata-mountain (Yahata and Hachiman is composed by same china-letter, but pronunciasion is different as Japan style or china style). There is a Tenno-mountain at the oppsite side accross Yodo-river and this area is most narrow along the river. So this area is very important to attck Kyoto or protect Kyoto. Therefore there ware many battles around this area, so the Shrine which worship Samrai`s god  was placed here.
At there Kamo-river from Kyoto, Uji-river from Biwa-lake and Kizu-river from Nara gathers, so many floods at here from old time. At meiji era, big bank was construvcted between the rivers. The bank was named Sewari-bank. Cherry blossoms line on the bank are very beautiful at spring.

Keihan railway run beside Osaka-castle and cross over O-kawa river (means big river) which is a branch of Yodo-river, and Osaka-castle-park and bank of O-kawa are covered by so beautiful cherry blossoms.

From Kyoto-side terminal named Demachi-yanagi, there is a walking way to north-west named Nagaragi-path to "Kyoto botanical girden". This area including the botanical gireden is covered by  so many cherry blossoms.

Followings are more special points where wide landscapes are expected .

[moutains of south area of Biwa-lake]
Many low mounains continue around the area, and from some mountains view of Biwa-lake are beautiful, however only some people visit there, so pathes of trail courses are not well maintained.

[Yamashina area and Biwa-lake canal]
Yamashina is a basin between Kyoto and Biwa-lake and surrounded by mountains. Only south short portion of the basin is opened to South east of Kyoto area. Water from Biwa-lake run through more southern vallay. the river in the vally named Uji-river run into a big pond named Ogura-Ike at there, then frew in to Osaka area. But the pond was reclaimed before second war,  so now there is large rice field. Anyway, the water from Biwa-Lake could not be utilized in Kyoto Area. So Ichiro-Tanabe constructed a long canal through "Biwalake-side east mountain" and "Kyoto-side west mountain". The canal run through north mountain foot of Yamashina Basin. The canal flow through East muntain of Kyoto to Keage power station and then flow into Big Okazaki Dam. From Keage a branch of the canal runs to north along backyard of Nanzen-temple through Aqua-duct made by bricks as Aqua-duct of Roma. From Okazaki dam the main canal flow to south and flow into Uji-river.
From JR yamashina station which is 1 station east from Kyoto station, go north then meat with the canal. then go right along the canal. At the last tunnel, left side is a road go to Keage-station and go right ,up to mountain arrive to mountain pass named Shinadokoro, then down to west, arrive to Nanzen-temple. From the mountain-pass, go to north to Daimonji-mountain then down to Ginkakuji, and from the mountain-pass go to south to Keage water power station.

[Nara area]
[Native forest in Kasuga mountain]
Most view points of Nara city area are located in very narrow area. so it is easy to see around.  Nara let me feel more calm compared with Kyoto. There is a famous shrine named Kasuga-taisya at east side of the city and there is a entrance of a path to native forest of Kasuga-mountain. On the way of the path, it is possible to climb up to the top of Wakakusa-mountain. From the top, you can see around Nara-basin. The pass is about 8km long.

[Yamanobe no michi] means a way along mountain-foot.
In old time, most part of Nara-basin was muddy area, so main street was along mountain-foot of east mountain of the basin. Now some part of the street remains between Tenri to Sakurai about 16km.
You can see old japan country side scenary at there.
Tenri city is 15km south from Nara city and both cities are connected by Kintetsu railway.
