Short trip to Yawata City of Keihan-Railway 八幡山へ
Yawata city station (KH26) is very near from Hirakata Koen(park)(KH20).
Ya-wata means 8 flags. 8 means actually many and flag means general, so 8 flags means many generals who gurd Budda. Therefore Yawata shrine deify the Generals. So Japanese Samurai group named Genji pray to Yawata shrine.

There is a mountain named Yawata mountain east behind the station. There is a mountain named Ten-nou-mountain just over Yodo-river.Ten means sky or heaven, and Nou or Ou means King.
And between the two mountains, the area is most narrow area between Osaka and Kyoto along Yodo-river. Therefore from old time, there happened so many battles around this area to protect Kyoto or to attack to Kyoto.Most famous battle was between Hideyoshi de Toyotomi and Mitsuhide de Akechi to get Japan Leader after Nobunaga de Oda who killed by his subordinate, Mitsuhide. Mitsuhide tryed to protect Kyoto after killing cruel Nobunaga. Nobunaga indicated Mitsuhide to go to battle togrther with Hideyoshi against Mouri who was governing west area after taking away Mitsuhide's territory. So Mitsuhide attcked to Nobunaga instead to attck to Mouri. Therefore Hideyoshi returned from battle with Mouri to Kyoto. Mitsuhide wait at Ten-nou zan. And won the battle and get Japan all.
All river of "Katsura and Kamo river from Kyoto basin, and Uji river from Lake Biwa and Kizu river from Nara basin" gather at this point, Therefore from oldtime there were so many floods at this area.
Many leaders tryed to make bank at here and finally at Meiji era, made the bank separete the flow of each rivers and arrange river flows. And at the time, many cherry blossoms were planted on the bank.
